Gadsden County is an inland Florida Panhandle county bordered by the Apalachicola River to the west and the Ochlockonee River to the east, making it a non-coastal county without direct storm surge exposure. It sits in the direct track of landfalling Gulf hurricanes and suffered notable fatalities and tree damage from Hurricane Michael in 2018, which maintained hurricane-force winds well past the county.
