Storm restoration across Pinellas County

Pinellas County is a narrow peninsula surrounded by Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, giving it some of the highest storm surge exposure in the United States - all barrier island communities sit in Evacuation Zone A, and a direct major hurricane strike can push 10-plus feet of water inland. Hurricane Helene (September 2024) drove historic storm surge that killed 12 county residents and caused the worst flood damage in a century, with water sensor readings of 6-7+ feet above mean high water at Clearwater Beach and Madeira Beach; two weeks later, Hurricane Milton added widespread wind damage and knocked out power for roughly 70% of the county. Beyond named storms, tropical winds regularly strip roof coverings, damage soffit and fascia, and compromise windows on both concrete-block and wood-frame homes, while heavy rainfall from slow-moving systems causes interior flooding and mold intrusion in low-lying neighborhoods well away from the coast.
